Evaluation
In what way does your media product use , develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media product?
My product is a conventional thriller/horror movie. The reason for this is due to the character is a villain and could be compared to characters such as Michael Myers and the character in chainsaw massacre. Additionally, the mise-en scene of my movie could be compared to the location of Shrooms, Cabin Fever and the Blair witch project. I also found that the dialogue could tell us too much information about the characters at the beginning of the film due to the tone or expression within the voice, the pitch or the speed. So, overall I feel these examples could give more of an insight into the character too soon into the film. That's why I decided to have no dialogue, just a soundtrack to keep the audience guessing.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My movie targets the social group of young girls - middle-class. The reason for this is, the character of my movie represents stereotypical young girls, walking alone thinking their safe, not being able to defend themselves as they run away. This happens within my movie.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I don't think my movie has a quality to be distributed in a place such as Hollywood. I think my movie could begin on 'YouTube', hopefully to seek viewers and then depending on the interest, could grow from there. The reason for this is because I don't have the technology to edit my film product to the standards to which may be used in Hollywood. For example:- I filmed in natural light which unleashed floors such as blemishes which unlike Hollywood could be edited to make the characters look a lot more professional, I filmed outdoors instead of a studio and the soundtrack to which I used was from a non-copyright source, instead of having one produced personally for me.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The targeted audience of my film is ranging from 16-20's. The reason I believe this age group is suited is because, I think younger children would find it scary due to the props which I used were gruesome. I used tomato source as blood and a knife...
How did you attract/ address your audience?
Again, my set age group for my product attracts the targeted audience. Also, the soundtrack could attract viewers to watch my movie as the music creates tension and builds up to a climax. I find camera angles bring interest. For example, if the movie contained only one camera angle throughout the movie then viewers would loose interest quickly. Whereas, if the movie had a range of camera angles then the movie would be more captivating .
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I found during making my movie that the technology wasn't as complicated as I first anticipated. But on the other hand, different aspects were complicated to begin with when I first began to record, I wasn't use to controlling the tripod to keep the shots smooth. I found it stiff and hard to adjust to as I had never used this type of equipment before.
Editing my movie was difficult at times on Pinnicle. At first finding different effects and learning how to use them properly was complicated but testing the equipment gave me an idea of how to use the affects, which within time became easier.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at the preliminary tasks, I found planning my product needed research to be complied by other thriller movies. Researching helped me gain further ideas for my film. Also, story boarding helped me schedule my movie throughout each section. Watching and analysing thriller openings made me think about how to make my movie opening unique.

Final Edit
After editing my film the first time, I watched it back to see if there was anything that should be changed. I noticed the text I added looked to 'friendly' for my genre so I edited the font. I also didn't like the texts transition as it flashed on the screen and flashed back off, so I edited it to fade onto the screen slowly and then fade off. The product didn't have a very good ending, so I swapped some scenes around to produce a cliff hanger which I thought was better.

First Edit to my product.
Once I finished filming, I transferred my product to the editing programme Pinnicle. The first time I edited my film I shortened some of the shots to make them blend more easily, I also switched some shots around to build more tension and to make my product smoother. I added some text too.

Saw (still)
The mise en scene in this still is unusual as its filmed in a large shower room/ bath room. The man lying on the floor looks in pain but unable to move much. The emotion on his portrays pain and frustration as he reaches for his phone.
Adjacent to him is a pool of fresh blood, this makes the still seem more of a stereotypical horror. Also it makes us wonder who's blood it is as the man isn't near it and he doesn't look injured.
The still makes me feel frustrated and uneasy which is maybe what the producers aim was.

Hills have eyes (still)
Straight away we see blood so obviously theres something going on, hes trapped in some box, full of amputated body parts. The expression on his face tells us he's in pain, gritting his teeth together as he try's to get out of the box.
He has blood all over his face, clothing and arms. Blood is split all over the inside of the box, which shows alot has happened to him and alot of people have been killed. Which makes us think maybe he might die in there.
Additionally the body parts make us realise how serious these people are about killing others, it shows us they have no morals and no feeling of guilt for leaving him there to die.
Wrong turn 2 (still)
As we can see this guy is in danger, he looks the typical solider kind which makes this still maybe seem ironic as he is hanging there helpless whilst there's a dodgy man standing looking as though he's having fun holding a knife to him.
The mise en scene is typical for this genre, woodland, old hut in the middle of nowhere. We can not see the soldier's face, this is to prevent us seeing his emotion maybe if we could it could change the whole feeling of the still. Also it could show the man with the knife has the power as we can see how he's feeling about the situation and he has his feet on the ground and has a knife, however the man who's hanging has his hands and feet tied, hanging upside down.

Hills have eyes (still)
I chose this still because it contains a lot of information about the genre of the film and what is happening in the film. The colours are typical for a horror for example red blood. Firstly the women is tied to the bed with blood on her face and she looks asthough she is in pain. This tells the audience something has happened to her and that maybe she has been captured. Emotion is portrayed well in this still and also it could make the viewer emotional as you can see the baby in the sink type object soaking in a pool of blood, there is also dried blood stains on the towels. This portrays there is some sick person hurting and killing innocent people, the baby is dead and the women is alive it makes us wonder what will happen to the women. The baby makes the still more effective.
